Jenna Wade explains in two minutes what a letition is - and how it can change politics.

The March 2024 Letition is about supporting the Duty of Care Bill.
Watch this ABC Australian Story's portrait of school striker Anjali Sharma
to understand what this Bill is all about.

"It's very rare for private senator's bills to pass, and so ultimately this will come down to Australians saying to their local representative: "This is something I want, and I am going to continue to push."
- David Pocock, independent Senator

THE THREE LETITION STEPS

1. Click on the 'Generate your Letition'-button and complete the form to receive the email with attached Letition-letter to your local member with your details. You can write a short personal message (optional).

2. Open your mailbox and read the letition-letter you will have received as a PDF attachment.

3. Now forward your letition email to your local politician - or, if sending by mail with an envelope and a stamp: print and mail your letition-letter to your local politician.

Stop the madness

More groups, more letters, more advocacy, more climate action.
Our focus point is that the Australian government is continuing to approve new fossil fuel developments, and in the words of the United Nations' Chief, this is madness!

Letitions

A 'letition' is one letter with one message, sent by many. It can be emailed or mailed with a stamp in a few minutes. In this age of digital communication, your letter in an envelope with a stamp will get noticed by your local member – and we make sure it gets counted.

Managable climate action - handed to you on a platter

Your contribution to the Letition campaign will take you 6 minutes each month
- and if you send by mail it will only cost you $1.20.

A Letition is a petition, an open letter, a submission and an individual letter all rolled into one. Similar to a petiton, the Letition-letters all have the same message - but individually forwarded and mailed by many.

This empowers us to work together and gather strength with numbers.

The difference is that where petitions tend to be politely forgotten, individual letters make a much stronger impressions - in particular when posted with a stamp.

As a community that stands together, we are being heard much clearer through Letitions.

We want to see our elected leaders take action on climate change. That's all.

Politicians: do the right thing

Listen to the IPCC

Transformation
Confronting the climate crisis requires a complete transformation of our energy sources, economic models and land stewardship. And it is urgent.
Nature
Nature provides major tools to put us back on track. The latest IPCC report makes it very clear: Nature is on our side, we can't do this without her.
Innovation
The despair we feel from climate projections must turn into action and innovation. Solving climate change is an opportunity to tackle problems we have struggled with for generations.
Better future
The IPCC report finds that the right kind of climate action can create a much better future than we imagine. But the 2020s are critical. We must start now.

We can still meet climate targets but only if we completely transform how we interact with Earth's resources.
